Kim Tatham (BDS)Dental Surgeon
Kim graduated from the University of Otago in 1997 after growing up here in Piopio and attending high school in Hamilton. In the years since she has worked as a Dental House surgeon in Wellington and Lower Hutt Hospitals, taken up permanent positions in the UK with the National Health Service whilst also enjoying her OE and exploring the world. Since returning to New Zealand in 2005, she has been based in Te Awamutu working in private practice prior to opening Piopio Dental in 2017. During this time, she also held part time Dental Public Health Roles in Lakes DHB for Tipu Ora Oranga Niho and was the Public Health Dentist for the Lakes DHB School Dental Therapists.
She is a past president and current board member (since 2008), of the New Zealand Institute of Minimal Intervention Dentistry (NZIMID) and was formerly the New Zealand Dental Association’s(NZDA) Graduate Development Co-ordinator for Waikato/Bay of Plenty and a NZDA New Graduate Mentor. Since 2017, Kim and her team also co-ordinate a charitable dental conference in Piopio that brings dentists from all over the North Island to Piopio. All profits from this conference go back to the local community. She also presents at continuing education meetings and conferences in New Zealand. In her free time, you’ll find her enjoying farm life and the outdoors with her husband Mat and their two children, Max and Zoe.
Rebecca WotherspoonDental Assistant
Rebecca is a qualified Dental Assistant, gaining her qualifications in 2012. She has been part of the Piopio Dental team from the start and lives locally with her husband Jye and their two young girls. Outside of work, Rebecca likes to keep active going to the local boot camp and heading out on bush walks and bike rides with her family.
Originally from Benneydale, Michelle is now a Piopio local, having attended Benneydale Area School followed by Piopio College. Originally trained as an Early Childhood Teacher, Michelle managed a childcare centre in Otorohanga for 10 years before joining us and has since obtained her Certificate in Dental Assisting. Michelle is married to Craig and they have two children. Outside of work Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, farming, and water sports.
